Highway Maintenance company Via East Midlands required Powered Sliding Gates to be installed at their various highway depots all over the east midlands area, UK. They required these gates to defend the company from potential security weaknesses and the gates needed to be fitted to a tight deadline to ensure the company was as safe and secure as soon as possible.
our approach
We consulted early with Via East Midlands to hear the exact specifications they required for the gates, and from here suggested the use of a sturdy yet smart PF900A gate for all of their sites. Our recommendation in this case was based off our knowledge that these gates could be installed in as little as a day, and we understood that impeccable speed and efficiency would be needed in the installation process, so that Via East Midlands’ sites were secure as soon possible. Following this we carried out some further on site surveys and meetings across their sites, from which we were able to advise Via East Midlands on the positioning of each gate.
Once the gates had been specifically manufactured to meet the requirements outlined by Via East Midlands, we began to work on installing the gates. Our dedicated team of experienced engineers took care of all the required civil work on both. Keeping their old gates in place during installation meant that we could maintain relative site security during the process and ultimately minimise disruption. We also worked seamlessly with Via East Midlands as they installed their own perimeter fencing alongside the PF900A gate.
The existing gates on both sites had been controlled by an access control system manufactured by Paxton along with a GSM intercom phone, which provided a wireless connection- we incorporated this into the new gates’ functionality with ease. Once the groundworks were completed, the factory-assembled gates were craned into position straight from the delivery lorry. Each of the powered sliding gates were installed, commissioned and CE marked within one working day. After this our installation team removed the existing leaf gates and motorised rams and then completed the groundworks, including a safety fence around the gate.

Via East Midlands now have their sites secured thanks to their new and cutting edge PF900A gates. We hope to work with them again in the future.
