The Challenge
Capture footage of the deck install of the UK’s first ‘Beacon’ bridge for Amco Giffen at Garforth Station. This £6 million project is part of the UK Government’s Access for All scheme.
The ‘Beacon’ bridge, is so-called due to it’s two lift shafts on either side. This design provides step free access for pedestrians and users of the rail beneath.
Amco Giffen requested a single filming shift to record two decks being lifted into place. The challenge for us here was showing the full scale of the lifts as well as the close up details of the deck pieces being screwed together with the rest of the structure.
The Approach
We deployed a single filming operative to capture the project. Our operative brought an arsenal of GoPros and dslr timelpase cameras to cover numerous angles of the deck lift. Furthermore, the DJI Mini 4 Pro and Canon R5 mirrorless camera continue as staples in our lineup. The Mini 4 Pro drone provided great aerial coverage of the crane lifting the two decks and the Canon R5 was essential for detailed shots of site workers tightly assembling the bridge components.
The deck lift occurred overnight so our operative had to work tirelessly into the early hours of the morning to ensure we had good footage to work with.
The Result
Our editor began working on the edit mere hours after the deck lifts. Having a single shift of footage to work with made this a relatively short edit. Despite the shorter length, this video didn’t lack any punch. Hour editor weaved the varieties of footage together, creating an impactful film of the deck lifts.
Amco Giffen were delighted with the first draft of the film and requested no further changes. We look forward to working with them on future projects.
